A 30-year-old went to the forest near Kulesze (Warmia-Masuria Province) with his dog. When the animal fell into a swamp, he wanted to help it and got stuck himself. He and his dog got out only after several attempts. Since he lost his bearings, he cried for help all night long. When the police arrived, the dog showed them the way to his owner.

It was 4:45 a.m. when two teenagers called the police on Wednesday (August 21). They said they were in Kulesze on a plot of land by the lake and had been hearing cries for help coming from the forest on the other side of the lake for some time.

The officers went to the scene and began searching the area. After a while, they also heard the cries.

The dog led the policemen to his master

They turned on their flashing lights, then used a megaphone and listened for a response.

“After several dozen minutes of searching, the officers noticed a dog running along a forest road, which turned around when it saw them and ran into the bushes. The dog led the officers for several hundred meters until it led them to its owner,” wrote Senior Commissioner Agata Jonik from the District Police Headquarters in Ełk in a statement.

At the scene, the officers found a cold and frightened 30-year-old man.

It was already dark. The man lost his bearings

“The man said that the previous afternoon he had gone to the forest with his dog to pick mushrooms. At one point the dog ran after an animal, and when it did not return for a long time, he went looking for it,” the policewoman reported.

The man lost his bearings due to the approaching darkness. At one point he heard a dog squealing. It turned out that the animal had fallen into a swamp. The man, wanting to help it, also found himself there and could not get out.
