Police officers from Kutno (Lodzkie Voivodship) detained three men suspected of car theft. According to the officers’ findings, the men were to target the cars that their owners had left at petrol stations and service points on the A1 motorway, and then take them on a tow truck and take them away to disassemble and sell for scrap.
The policemen worked on the investigation of a group stealing cars in the Kutno poviat. While checking one of the selected addresses in the vicinity of Włocławek (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship), the uniform found two stolen cars.
– One of them was an Opel, which was stolen from the Strzelce Service Area on April 15. The second recovered car is an Opel, which was also stolen in April at one of the petrol stations – said sub-commissioner Edyta Machnik from the police in Kutno. And she added: – The inspection of the cars and the secured traces resulted in further typing, which led to the arrest of three men suspected of theft of these cars in the Włocławek poviat.
During the search of the men’s homes, police found parts of other vehicles.

The findings of the investigators show that the detained searched for vehicles that were left by their owners for various reasons at gas stations or passenger service areas on the A1 motorway. – Selected cars were pulled on a tow truck and transported to a predetermined place, where they disassembled them into parts that were sent to scrap collection points – described Machnik.
It turned out that the 26-year-old had committed the theft earlier.
The arrested men are residents of the Włocławek poviat. The 24- and 25-year-old faced two charges of car theft in April 2022. The 26-year-old heard three charges of car theft. They are threatened with up to 10 years imprisonment.
