In the first half of the year, the most sought-after employees were salespeople. Every fifth job offer was addressed to them, according to data from Pracuj.pl. The second most sought-after specialization was IT specialists. 13 percent of the advertisements were addressed to them.

In the first half of the year, 454,000 jobs were posted on Pracuj.pl. offers, by 24 percent less than in the record-breaking first half of 2022. As emphasized, despite the decline, the scale of recruitment remained at a relatively high level compared to the last 5 years.

Growing wage requirements are a challenge for employers

The report noted that after several years of continuous growth in the number of recruitments, in the first half of the year companies faced many internal and external factors that affected the condition of the organization and the costs of doing business. The investment climate has also changed. war in Ukraine and high inflation. Cost challenges were accompanied by rising salary expectations of employees.

In the first half of the year, salespeople (every fifth job offer was addressed to them) ranked first among the most sought-after specializations, outselling IT specialists (recruitment of IT specialists concerned 13% of advertisements). 10 percent offers were addressed to manual workers, 9 percent. to finance experts and 6 percent each. to engineers and customer service employees. – The first six months of this year are a new perspective and further observations of changes that are taking place on the labor market. Sales are back at the top of the rankings, IT is down, commented Rafał Nachyna, Managing Director of Pracuj.pl and member of the Management Board of Grupa Pracuj.

He pointed out that already in the second half of last year there were signs of a slowdown among employers.

– They have entered the period of waiting for what the coming months will bring. High economic uncertainty means that there are fewer recruitments than in the same period of 2022. However, we compare the current situation to record post-pandemic results, and looking more broadly, in the perspective of recent years, we are still talking about very good results – said Nachyna.

Decrease in job offers in IT

When it comes to the industry represented by the employer placing the advertisement, in the first six months of the year the most active were companies from the finance and banking industry – their share was 12 percent. The second place was taken by companies from the area of ​​B2C trade and sales (9%), and the third by IT (a decrease by 3 percentage points). As indicated, the decrease in the share of announcements from IT companies confirms the observations of market experts, emphasizing the challenges of the new technologies industry related to the verification of pandemic investments and the slightly worse condition of this sector. This resulted in greater restraint in recruitment decisions and a period of cooling down after records from previous years. 37 percent active ads in the first half of 2023 were those that enabled remote work, hybrid or any choice of one of these models. Almost a third (30 percent) enabled hybrid work, and 17 percent. – remote work. 16 percent of advertisements were offers for people applying for a job at the beginning of their careers. Increased activity of employees looking for a job has been observed on the website. The number of applications for advertisements increased by 14% year-on-year.
