An unusual situation in the forest near Łódź. There are signs hanging on the trees stating that “it is completely forbidden to collect mushrooms and forest fruits in this area due to the sprayed fox rabies vaccine.” Interestingly, this information was supposed to be provided by an institution that does not exist. – There are so many mushrooms this year that there is no need to scare anyone away – comments Michał Falkowski, the forest inspector.

The Kolumna Forest District informed about this unusual situation on social media. Postcards with information about a “total ban on collecting mushrooms and forest fruits” appeared in the forests near the town of Truth. The “Provincial Inspectorate of State Forests” will be responsible for hanging them. However, such an institution does not exist. The forester assures that no substances are sprayed over the forests.

We asked the forester of the Kolumna Forest District for a comment.

– These cards – after identification by the forest guard and local foresters – hang mainly in the area of the towns of Truth and Guzew. We have several small forest areas there, most of them are private. We took down the cards that appeared in our forests. There are so many mushrooms this year that no one needs to be deterred in this way – comments Michał Falkowski, head of the Kolumna Forest District.

He adds that there is no Provincial Inspectorate of State Forests. – He strongly denies it, there is no such institution. I think this is based on people's ignorance that there are forest districts such as Grotniki, Kolumna or the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Łódź. I also assure you that nothing is sprayed over the forests.
