Łaziska Górne. House fire. The 14-year-old couldn’t get out and screamed for help

A fire broke out in one of the houses in Łaziska Górne (Silesian Voivodeship). A 14-year-old boy could be seen in the attic window, unable to get out and screaming for help. Thanks to the cooperation of firefighters and policemen, the child was brought safely to the ground.

According to aspirant Ewa Sikora, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Mikołów, the incident took place on Saturday (February 25) in one of the semi-detached buildings located in Łaziska Górne at Polna Street.

– The fire was supposed to have started on the ground floor. The police arrived at the scene as quickly as possible. Residents of nearby buildings pointed them to an attic window where a boy could be seen calling for help. It turned out that the heavy smoke made it impossible for him to leave the house, the policewoman said.

A safe 14-year-old

The police climbed to the roof and, establishing contact with the 14-year-old and ensuring his safety, pulled him out of the building.

– All three of them safely descended to the ground using a ladder set up by firefighters. The teenager was handed over to the ambulance crew and transported to the hospital. He left the medical facility yesterday safe and sound. The circumstances of the entire incident and the cause of the fire are being investigated by police officers from the Łaziska police station, the policewoman added.
