A 56-year-old selling snacks there was beaten on the beach in Łeba. Two young men heard the accusations of being beaten with the use of a dangerous tool. According to investigators, the 19- and 20-year-old attacked to get rid of the competition. They face up to eight years in prison.


Last Thursday, the policemen were called to a fight on the beach in Łeba – said on Monday the aspirant Marta Szałkowska from the County Police Headquarters in Lębork. As she reported, two young men approached the 56-year-old selling snacks to sunbathers and ordered him to leave “their area” in a vulgar manner. Moments later, they brutally attacked the trader.

– One of the attackers sprinkled sand in his eyes, then they both started kicking him and hitting him all over his body with clubs. The men were dragged away from the 56-year-old by lifeguards. The policemen called to the scene determined the circumstances of the incident, secured the truncheons, which were most likely used by the perpetrators, and arrested the 20-year-old and 19-year-old from the Słupsk and Chojnice poviats – said the aspirant Szałkowska.

As she added, the victim was taken to hospital. His life and health are not in danger.

Investigators secured a monitoring recording showing the course of the event. Evidence was collected that allowed the accusation of being beaten with the use of a dangerous tool to be presented to the detained. The prosecutor decided to apply preventive measures against them in the form of police supervision and a ban on leaving the country, combined with a ban on issuing a document authorizing them to cross the border.

Men are threatened with 8 years imprisonment.
