In 2019 – after a 10-year break – the Polish Military Contingent returned to Lebanon as an operational sub-unit. The company's tasks include maintaining posts, conducting patrols and convoying.

Currently, soldiers from 17th Greater Poland Mechanized Brigade named after Lieutenant General Józef Dowbor-Muśnicki. The contingent consists of 250 soldiers.

In the years 1995-1997 UNIFIL was commanded by a Pole – a brigadier general and doctor of military sciences Stanislaw Woźniak.
