The area of one of the UN (Unifil) peace forces bases in the south of Lebanon was shelled by the Israeli army. There is no information about the victims. This is the first such incident from the conclusion of a truce in the war of Israel with Hezbollah at the end of November 2024.

Israel and Lebanon are accused of breaking the conditions of the truce
However, both parties accuse themselves of non -compliance with the contract. The Israeli army remained in five border posts on the territory of Lebanon and regularly attack the goals in this country, indicating that the impacts are aimed at a breaking truce of Hezbollah. The group recognized by the West as a terrorist organization does not admit to the alleged violations, including rocket attacks on Israel.
The UN (Unifil) temporary armed forces have been operating in Lebanon since 1978 by a security council resolution. One of the declared mission goals has long been, among others Help to the Lebanese authorities and the army in regaining control over the south of the country. Unifil forces have over 10,000 soldiers, including a 210-person contingent from Poland.
During the open war in the autumn of 2024, when Israeli troops entered the south of Lebanon, Unifil forces and mission facilities were fired several dozen times. Over 20 soldiers were injured in these incidents. Most of them were Israeli attacks. The army of this country emphasized that the goal was not Unifil troops, but hezbollah fighters.
The authorities in Jerusalem have repeatedly appealed to the UN troops for their own safety to withdraw from the south of Lebanon. Unifil has always replied that the soldiers of the peace forces would remain in their positions. Israel's firing and violation of Unifil positions criticized, among others Poland, France and Italy.
