A 51-year-old from one of the shops in Lębork (Pomeranian Voivodeship) tried to steal crime books, alcohol and food. And then I notified the police myself. Witnesses of the event pushed him to make the phone call.

The incident took place on Thursday, March 30, after 8 p.m. in one of the discount stores in Lębork. According to the information provided by the police, the 51-year-old tried to steal three crime books, food products and a six-pack of beer in one of the supermarkets, worth over PLN 500. All this – according to the police – he put in his backpack, and the latter in a shopping cart, hoping to leave the market without paying.

Witnesses tried to stop the thief red-handed. He got scared of their reaction and ran away to another store. – Sam called the police because he was afraid of the reaction of the people he was running from – reports asp. Marta Szałkowska from the police in Lębork.

The police took the stolen goods and returned them to the store. The 51-year-old was intoxicated. According to Szałkowska, he will be charged with theft and faces up to five years in prison.
