In Lębork (Pomeranian Voivodeship), firefighters were called to a burning landfill for tires, plastics and foams. As they estimated, the firefighting operation will continue until the morning. The fire brigade informed that no injured persons were found on the spot.

As the press spokesman of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Gdańsk, Łukasz Płusa, informed, firefighters received a notification of a fire in Lębork at Słupska Street on Thursday at 17.40.

– In the initial phase, the duty officer sent eleven fire brigades to the scene. After arriving, it turned out that the accumulated garbage was burning: tires, plastics, polyurethane foams – said Płusa. He added that the head of the rescue operation asked for additional fire brigades.

The fire spread over an area of ​​6,000 square meters. 33 fire brigades were sent to fight the fire, including a specialized chemical and ecological rescue group from Gdynia. Additionally, a foam concentrate container and a container with breathing apparatus were placed on site.

Płusa added that the forecasted actions of the firefighters will continue until the early hours of the morning.
