A tragic accident near Lębork in Pomerania. The passenger car ran off the road and crashed into a tree. One of the passengers was killed instantly. According to the police, the 18-year-old driver passed his driving test only a few days earlier.
The accident happened on a Sunday before 17 on the route between Lębork and Cewice. – Passenger car crashed into a roadside tree. One person died as a result of the accident – told us Radosław Wroński, deputy commander of the Rescue and Fire Fighting Unit in Lębork.
A passenger in the back of the car was killed. The other passenger sitting next to him was also seriously injured – he had to be taken to hospital by a helicopter from the Polish Medical Air Rescue. The driver of the vehicle and the third passenger sitting in front had the least injuries.
The driver passed the driving test a few days earlier
Young men traveled by car. It was necessary to cut out one person with professional equipment. – The blow was very strong – admits Wroński.
Aspirant Marta Szałkowska from the County Headquarters in Lębork informed us that preliminary findings indicate that the incident took place during the overtaking. – The 18-year-old driver decided to overtake another vehicle, but then noticed that the car following him also started overtaking. He got scared and tried to get back to his lane – describes the policewoman. And he adds: – Then he probably did not control the vehicle, fell out of the way and hit a tree sideways.
As Szałkowska says, the 18-year-old passed his driving license a few days earlier, but he was not officially allowed to drive a car because he had not received a driving license. He was sober, the police are waiting for the results of blood tests for drugs.
The road was completely blocked for a long time. The police have set a detour through the village of Maszewo Lęborskie.
