The 20 zloty banknote and the 500 zloty coin with the image of Lech Kaczyński will be available for purchase from Tuesday, November 9, informed the National Bank of Poland in a press release. The banknote, in addition to the former president, will also include cranes from the Gdańsk shipyard and the building of the Warsaw Uprising Museum.

Collectible banknotes and coins
The central bank explained that “the collector’s banknote will be issued in a mintage of up to 80,000 pieces and it will be available for purchase at a gross price of PLN 100”. In turn, “the mintage of the gold coin (999.9 sample) will be up to 1,500, and the price – gross PLN 9,500”.
“Collector banknotes and coins will be available for purchase at NBP Regional Branches and the NBP Kolekcjoner online store,” reads the release.
Narodowy Bank Polski has the exclusive right to issue coins and banknotes in Poland. All currency issued by the NBP – including collector’s – are legal tender in Poland.
“Lech Kaczyński was born on June 18, 1949 in Warsaw, in a family of intelligentsia with strong patriotic traditions,” we read in a press release from the National Bank of Poland.
