The sale of the collector’s banknote with a face value of 20 zlotys and coins with a face value of 500 zlotys with the image of Lech Kaczyński has started. The banknote sale offers have already appeared on popular internet portals, and the prices significantly exceed the cost of purchasing the banknote at a branch of the National Bank of Poland.

Commemorating President Lech Kaczyński, a commemorative banknote with a face value of PLN 20 and a gold coin with a face value of PLN 500 have been put into circulation today.

The central bank explained in a statement that “the collector’s banknote will be issued in a circulation of up to 80,000 and it will be available for purchase at a gross price of PLN 100”. In turn, “the mintage of the gold coin (999.9 sample) will be up to 1,500, and the price – gross PLN 9,500”.

Collector banknotes and coins can be purchased at NBP regional branches and the NBP Kolekcjoner online store.

On popular sales and auction portals (such as Allegro or OLX), banknote sales offers are higher than those proposed by the central bank and range from PLN 170 to PLN 280. It seems that the banknote with the image of Lech Kaczyński is very popular among collectors and traders, and it is possible that the circulation of 80,000. pieces will not meet the demand.
