A tragedy on the road in the Lublin region. The truck driver was overtaking “on the third”, he wanted to avoid a head-on collision and crashed into a passenger bus. He died on the spot, and one of the bus passengers is also dead. The truck driver was detained on the same day. He heard the charge and was arrested.
– The tragic road accident took place on Monday (August 2) around 7:30 in the town of Lechówka – says senior sergeant Angelika Głąb-Kunysz from the Lublin police. – The preliminary findings of the Chełm policemen show that the driver of the truck, overtaking the “third”, forced the 62-year-old Renault driver to flee – reports the policewoman. And he adds: – In order to avoid a head-on collision with a truck, the man collided with a passenger bus. According to the police, as a result of the vehicle collision, both cars fell off the road. The bus stopped in a tree, and the truck driver continued on. Two people died on the spot. The driver of a passenger car and a bus passenger were killed. And nine people who traveled by bus were transported to hospitals.

Chełm criminals took care of the identification of the truck driver. Operational findings on the same day contributed to the detention of a 62-year-old resident of the Łęczna poviat.

The man was brought to the prosecutor’s office, where he was charged with causing a communication disaster and fleeing the scene of the accident. This crime is punishable by up to 12 years’ imprisonment.
The court placed the 62-year-old in pre-trial detention.
