In Legnica (Lower Silesia), a fire broke out on the top floor of one of the tenement houses. Residents of the burning apartment escaped from the fire by jumping out of the window. One person did not survive the fall, the other was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Information about the fire was received by the Legnica fire brigade on Tuesday after 4. The report concerned an apartment on the top floor of a three-story tenement house at Głogowska Street.

14 people had evacuated the building before firefighters arrived. The city office provided a bus for evacuated people who could hide in it, the duty officer of the Legnica fire brigade reported. He also informed about two injured people, of whom one died and the other was transported to the hospital in a serious condition.

– The policemen were on the spot, who evacuated the residents of this tenement house. According to their preliminary findings, two people jumped out of the window trying to save themselves. One person was resuscitated but could not be revived. A prosecutor and an expert in the field of fire are on site. Actions are underway – says Anna Tersa, spokeswoman for the Legnica police.

Around 5:30 a.m., the fire brigade dispatcher reported that the fire had spread to the attic of the building. At that time, the fire had not yet been located. Two hours later, firefighters said the fire was under control.
