The collision of a passenger car with a train occurred at a railway crossing in Łękno (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). The driver of the Opel ran a red light, rammed the barrier and drove straight into the oncoming train. The victim was taken to a hospital in Koszalin with injuries, the other three people in the car were not seriously injured.

The accident at the railway crossing in Łękno in the Koszalin poviat took place on Thursday around 1.30 pm.

According to the junior brigadier Kubiak, a passenger car collided there with a train with four people in it. The only person injured in the accident is the driver of the car.

He ran right under the train

In addition to firefighters, policemen from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Koszalin worked on the spot. – The 56-year-old driver of the Opel drove under the oncoming train. The railway crossing was equipped with St. Andrew’s crosses, traffic lights and barriers that were lowered when the train was passing, said Staff Sergeant Rafał Skoczylas from the Koszalin police.
