The horse fell into a frozen pond in the paddock. The services were called. Before firefighters arrived, the animal was pulled out by residents. One of them was kicked in the stomach and was taken to hospital.

The incident occurred on Sunday, January 5, around 3:30 p.m. on a private property in the village of Leśna in the Olesno district in the Opole Voivodeship. Firefighters were called to a horse that had fallen into a pond.

As Daniel Kaczmarek, press officer of the State Fire Service in Oleśno, describes, there were three animals in the horse enclosure. The horses had access to the pond, which was covered with ice. “The animal stood on the ice, which broke under it and fell into the pond,” Kaczmarek reports.

The witnesses of the incident did not wait for the firefighters, they began to act. They pulled the animal to the shore. During the operation, a 57-year-old man was kicked in the stomach by the animal.

An ambulance was called. The man was taken to the hospital in Olesno for further diagnostics.

The horse was examined by a veterinarian. Finally, firefighters took the animal to the stable.
