On Monday, January 1, around 6:30 p.m., police officers from Leśnica were notified of a road accident on the route between Zimna Wódka and Ujazd, where an Audi drove into a nearby field. According to the police, there was a completely drunk driver inside the car.
– The police tested the man with a breathalyzer, but the 23-year-old’s alcohol concentration was so high that the device lacked a scale. The driver had over 4 per mille of alcohol – informs the Opole police.
The man drove a car with more than 4 per mille of alcohol
The man admitted to the officers that he had stopped drinking high-proof alcoholic beverages around 2 a.m. on New Year’s Eve and had not drank any more alcohol since then. He also said he was so tired that he fell asleep at the wheel of the vehicle.
According to the police, during the arrest the man’s pupils were unnaturally dilated and he was behaving hyperactively, which is why the police began to suspect that he may be under the influence of drugs. The driver’s blood was taken for detailed analysis for drug content.
The 23-year-old will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He faces up to 3 years in prison, a driving ban and a high fine.
According to the police, if the results of the blood test confirm that the man was also under the influence of drugs, he will not avoid responsibility for it.
