On Tuesday, firefighters intervened 45 times in MaĆopolska to pump out water from flooded yards and basements and to unblock culverts after heavy rainfall. The alarm level is exceeded on the Rudawa River in the afternoon.
On Tuesday, rainfall will pass through Poland from west to east. Throughout the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, the fire brigade intervened 45 times in connection with them from morning to around noon.
Firefighters were most often called in the Krakow, Olkusz and MiechĂłw counties, said Hubert CiepĆy, spokesman for the MaĆopolska fire brigade.
As he explained, most of the work was related to clogged culverts, through which water collected in ditches and poured onto local roads, as well as flooded yards and entered basements and outbuildings. The firefighters’ actions consisted mainly of pumping out water.
Alarm condition exceeded
Due to rainfall in MaĆopolska, the water level in rivers is expected to increase. In Rudawa, in the Balice profile, the alarm level was exceeded by eight centimeters and the trend was increasing. In the afternoon it was 338 cm.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued a hydrological warning of the third, highest level. It will be valid until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
