A strong wind blew in the evening and night hours in the south of Poland. The gusts knocked down trees and downed power lines, and firefighters had to intervene in many places. Orange warnings for strong winds remain in effect in three provinces on Tuesday.

They are valid in southern Poland from Monday weather warnings against strong winds and an alert from the Government Security Center. The conditions were particularly difficult on the night from Monday to Tuesday.

122 kilometers per hour

According to Hubert Ciepły, spokesman for the Małopolska fire brigade, firefighters from Małopolska intervened 50 times during the night, most in the Wadowice and Tatra poviats. Their trips mainly concerned the removal of fallen trees from roads and broken power lines. Nobody was injured.

at night in Zakopane gusts of wind exceeded 100 kilometers per hour. Gusts exceeding 122 km/h were recorded on Kasprowy Wierch. According to the weather forecaster tvnmeteo.pl Arleta Unton-Pyziołek, gusty winds in the foothills and mountains also occur on Tuesday mornings.
