A pregnant woman and her 41-year-old partner wanted to buy cigarettes and alcohol in one of the supermarkets in Leszno (Wielkopolska). However, they did not want to stand in line and – according to the police – demanded to be served out of turn due to the woman’s pregnancy. The cashier refused, which aroused the couple’s aggression. An off-duty policeman, who was also standing in line at the checkout, intervened. He was punched in the face. The aggressive 41-year-old was arrested.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon in one of the supermarkets in Leszno. This is where a man and his pregnant partner shopped. According to the police, they wanted to buy alcohol and cigarettes and demanded to be served out of turn due to the woman’s pregnancy. – The saleswoman refused to sell such an assortment to a pregnant woman – said asp. pcs. An off-duty policeman drew their attention. “He was punched in the face”

The refusal – as Żymełka described – caused an attack of anger and aggression in the woman and her partner towards the cashier. The situation was witnessed by an off-duty policeman who was standing in line at the checkout. He caught the attention of an aggressive couple. Then, unexpectedly, he was punched in the face by a man. A struggle began, during which the officer overpowered the aggressor, showing his ID and introducing himself as a policeman. It did not make any impression on the man, he did not calm down, and he also threatened the policeman with his life – reported Żymełka.

The police officers who were called to the scene arrested the aggressor. It turned out that the 41-year-old resident of Leszno was intoxicated, had almost the legal limit of alcohol in his body.

The detainee was charged with the violation of bodily integrity of a person intervening for the protection of people’s safety and public order, and making criminal threats. The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to the charges against him. The prosecutor’s office applied police supervision to the suspect. The man faces up to two years in prison.
