IMWM warns about difficult weather conditions. Icing and freezing precipitation are expected in parts of Poland at night, and strong winds may also pose a threat. Check where it will be dangerous.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings.

IMWM warnings – icing

Yellow icing alerts apply in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranianexcluding eastern counties;
  • West Pomeranian Voivodeshipin the following poviats: Koszalin, KoszalinSławno;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipoutside the southwestern counties.

It is forecast that the wet surface of roads and sidewalks will freeze after wet snow and sleet, causing their icing. Warnings in Western Pomerania and Pomerania will be valid until 4 a.m. on Sunday. In Warmia and Masuria alarms will expire at 8 on Sunday.

IMWM warnings – freezing precipitation

Black ice is expected in parts of the country. IMWM issued warnings about freezing precipitation in the following voivodeships:

  • Lower Silesiain southern counties, where alarms will apply from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday;
  • Opole provincewhere it will be dangerous from 6-9.30 on Sunday;
  • Greater Polandin Kępno and Ostrzeszów poviats, where warnings will be valid from 6-9.30 a.m. on Sunday;
  • Silesianwhere the dangerous weather will persist from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday;
  • Lesser Polandwhere it will be dangerous between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday;
  • Łódźexcept for northern counties, where alarms will be valid from 6-9.30 a.m. on Sunday;
  • Świętokrzyskiewhere warnings will be in force from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday;
  • Podkarpackiewhere alerts will go into effect at 10-11 on Sunday and will expire at 19 or 22 on the same day;
  • Masovian Voivodeshipin southern counties, where it will be dangerous between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday;
  • Lublin Provincein southern counties, where alarms will be valid from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Light freezing rain and drizzle causing black ice are forecast in places. Freezing precipitation will occur temporarily.

IMWM warnings – strong wind

There are also warnings against strong winds. They concern the following voivodeships:

  • Lower Silesiasouthern counties, where it will be dangerous between 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday;
  • Silesiansouthern counties, where alarms will be valid from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday;
  • Podkarpackiecounties located in the south of the region, where warnings will apply from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday;
  • Lesser Polandcounties: Oświęcim, Wadowice, Sucha, Myślenice, Limanowa, Nowy SączNowy Sącz, Gorlice, where alarms will be valid from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Strong winds with an average speed of up to 35-40 km/h, with gusts of up to 75-80 km/h, are forecast to occur from the southwest and south.
