Lewin Brzeski in the Opole province has been flooded by 90 percent. The city has been flooded for several days, but the water is not decreasing. Due to the great flood, there are residents who have been cut off from the world and cannot leave their homes. According to the Minister of Health, there is a problem with the delivery of medicines in the city.

As TVN24 reporter Dominika Ziółkowska reports, a command center has been set up at the entrance to Lewin – there the army, hand in hand with the guards, receives information on where exactly help is needed.

– Every now and then we receive signals, messages from people who have not received provisions or have run out. After receiving the information, we load the machine and go to a specific address. On the way, we are stopped by random people, we try to help them, we share whatever we have, as we can – the firefighter says in an interview with the reporter.

– Due to the size of the town and the number of these apartment blocks, there are quite a lot of calls, because some need bread, some need to see a doctor, so there is something to do – he explains.

Lewin Brzeski is located in the Silesian Lowlands on the Nysa Kłodzka River. – It has a rather specific form, it is arranged like a basin, a bowl of water – explains the reporter.

Boss Ministry of Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak During the meeting of the crisis management team, he announced the appointment of two new proxies who will take over part of the crisis management from local authorities in two towns in the Opole province that were severely affected by flooding – Głuchołazy and Lewin Brzeski.

In the case of Głuchołazy, it is Arkadiusz Kuśmierski, deputy provincial commander of the State Fire Service in Opole, and in the case of Lewin Brzeski, it is Dariusz Kulawinek, district commander of the State Fire Service in Brzeg.

Earlier, the Ministry of Interior and Administration had already decided to take a similar step in the case of Lądek-Zdrój and Stronie Śląskie – towns also severely affected by the flood, where Michał Kamieniecki, the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship Commander of the State Fire Service, took over management.

Problem with drug delivery

On Friday morning, the Minister of Health Isabela Leszczyna informed that there was a problem with access to medicines in the city due to their delivery. “We will deal with it today,” she announced.
