Judge Igor Tuleya spoke on TVN24 about lex anti-TVN. – All free people should defend free media, because without free media there is simply no freedom – he emphasized. He added that “free, independent media pose a threat to the authorities.”

In early July, a group of Law and Justice deputies entered the Sejm draft amendment to the Broadcasting Act. Commentators agree that the changes are aimed at TVN’s independence. The parliamentary committee on culture and media adopted the draft on July 27 and sent it for further work.

Many journalists, politicians and institutions protested against the changes in the media law. Among others, American congressmen, both Democrats and Republicans, who in a joint statement warned the Polish government that the adoption of the amendment may have a negative impact on business, trade and defense relations between Poland and the United States.

Igor Tuleya, a judge of the Warsaw district court, spoke about lex anti-TVN on Tuesday on TVN24. He said that “free, independent media pose a threat to the authorities.” – There have been words once that three newspapers are much more dangerous than three thousand bayonets. The chairman of all CEOs did not say that, only Napoleon. I suspect that today the president said that one independent television is much more dangerous than ten million citizens – he said.

In his opinion, “all free people should defend free media, because without free media there is simply no freedom.” – We live in difficult times, certainly interesting. Whether this time will also be tragic depends only on us, the citizens – emphasized the judge.

– President Kaczyński has long called independent courts the last bastion, the last barricade that prevents him from realizing his vision of the world, his vision of the country. That is a country not only without independent courts, but also independent media, without free people – said Tuleya.
