The belief that American diplomats do not know what is happening in Poland is complete nonsense – said Bartosz Węglarczyk, editor-in-chief of Onet on TVN24. In this way, he commented on the words of the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, Ryszard Terlecki, who said that Americans “read nonsense” about Poland. It was the answer of the PiS club chairman to the letter of American senators on lex-anti TVN. As Węglarczyk added, “Americans know perfectly well that the TVN law, if it enters into force, will hit American investments in Poland.”
Republican and Democratic on Wednesday American senators issued a joint statement on the amendment to the media law known as lex TVN entitled “The bipartisan group of senators warns the Polish government against introducing a law that targets free media and jeopardizes American investment.”
On Thursday, the deputy speaker of the Sejm and the chairman of the PiS club, Ryszard Terlecki, when asked about the statement of American senators, said that the Americans “they read various nonsense”and therefore “they don’t know what’s going on” in Poland.
Węglarczyk on Terlecki’s words: complete nonsense
Terlecki’s words were commented on by the editor-in-chief of Onet, Bartosz Węglarczyk on TVN24.
– This is the opinion expressed very often by politicians in Poland. Jerzy Urban said exactly the same in the 1980s, when he explained why the American media wrote so badly about the People’s Republic of Poland – because they listen to oppositionists who have no idea what is happening in Poland and have bad sources of information – said the journalist.
In his opinion, “the belief that American diplomats do not know what is happening in Poland is complete nonsense.” – It is a great diplomacy in which many Americans of Polish origin work, in which many Americans who know Poland very well – argued Węglarczyk.
As he said, “as long as Donald Trump ruled in the White House, the current Polish authorities believed that American diplomats knew what was happening in our country.” “The moment the resident of the White House has changed, it suddenly turns out that they have no idea,” he added.
He repeated that Terlecki’s statement was “a nonsense and completely untrue argument”. – I would like to emphasize once again, it comes from the deep Polish People’s Republic. There are no real grounds. Americans know very well what is happening in Poland and they know very well that the TVN law, if it enters into force, will hit American investments in Poland. This is a fact – said the journalist.
