What was done and what Mr. Andrzej Duda slapped was spitting in the face of our twentieth-century history – said Professor Andrzej Rzepliński, former president of the Constitutional Tribunal, on TVN24 about Lex Tusk.
President Andrzej Duda signed the law on the establishment of a commission for the study of Russian influence, i.e. the so-called Lex Tusk. He also announced that it would be referred to the Constitutional Tribunal.
The former president of the Constitutional Tribunal, Professor Andrzej Rzepliński, spoke on Friday in “One for One” on TVN24.
– In my opinion, the president resigned from office at the moment he signed this monster. The president in the most daring conjectures could not have committed such an act. What he can do is actually abdicate after what his signature triggered,” he said.
Rzepliński stated that Andrzej Duda “he was given a great opportunity on the plate to show his strength, independence, ability to look ahead, to assess the effects”, which he did not use.
– Unfortunately for me, he is no longer the president of the Republic, he has abdicated from this office. He should write a bill with a one-sentence content – the act on the extraordinary committee is repealed and send it to the Marshal of the Sejm. (…) What was done and what Mr. Andrzej Duda slapped was spitting in the face of our twentieth-century history, assessed the former president of the Constitutional Tribunal.
