The head of the PiS club, Ryszard Terlecki, was asked on Monday about the sudden change of decision regarding the commission for examining Russian influence in Poland. Everything seems to indicate that the commission based on Lex Tusk – contrary to earlier announcements of politicians of the ruling party – will start work already in this term of the Sejm. “Sometimes you can make a mistake,” Terlecki commented.

Marek Ast, member of the club’s presidium PIS and the head of the parliamentary justice committee, announced on August 18 that in this term of office of the Sejm it would not be possible to appoint a committee for examining Russian influences, provided for in the Lex Tusk act. The head of the PiS club spoke in a similar tone Richard Terlecki, who assured that his party would “act on this issue in the next term”. “We didn’t retreat, we just ran out of time,” he said.

Meanwhile on Friday the Sejm clubs were informed about the deadline for submitting candidates to the said committee. The deadline was set by the Marshal of the Sejm Elizabeth Witek until Tuesday, August 29, until 8 p.m.

“Sometimes you can be wrong.”

Ryszard Terlecki was asked about this sudden change in the decision to appoint the committee on Monday in the Sejm.

When asked whether the chairman of the commission would be the historian Sławomir Cenckiewicz, in the past chairman of the WSI liquidation commission, Terlecki replied: – We’ll see.

Note that two days ago he himself said that there would be no commission, the head of the PiS club said that “sometimes you can make a mistake”. When asked whether the composition of the commission will be voted on at the next session of the Sejm, he replied: – Probably yes.

However, he did not want to reveal any of the names on the list of candidates for the commission.
