So that the doctor of law would not see the difference between the constitutionally embedded investigative commission and this Russian commission, so that he would not know what a violation of the constitution it is to deprive a citizen of a valid electoral right, an important civil right, by an administrative decision? – Professor Tomasz Nałęcz asked in “Kropka nad i”, commenting on President Duda’s decision to sign “lex Tusk”. – The president pushed Polish policy in a very dangerous direction – said Professor Antoni Dudek.
President Andrzej Duda signed the law on the establishment of a commission for the study of Russian influence, i.e. the so-called Lex Tusk. He also announced that it would be referred to the Constitutional Tribunal. The decision of the head of state was commented on by the guests of Wednesday’s “Kropki nad i”: prof. Tomasz Nałęcz, historian, former advisor to the president Bronislaw Komorowski, former Deputy Speaker of the Sejm and political scientist prof. Antoni Dudek from UKSW.
“The gun called the commission was put on the table”
– Everyone (Poland’s allies – ed.) will now watch this gun called the commission for Russian influence, which has been placed on the table – said prof. Dudek, saying that it remains to be seen whether the rulers will try to get rid of – through the actions of the commission – Donald Tusk from political life. In his opinion, “the decision of the commission will depend on what will result from polls“.
The political scientist also commented speech by President Dudawho in an interview with Bloomberg published on Wednesday said that he did not understand the critical reaction of allies to the adoption of the Russian Influence Commission Act and offered to clarify the matter in a conversation with the president, as Bloomberg writes. Joe Biden.
– The president somehow tries to weaken the importance of the American reaction, which is particularly painful for him, because for years he has presented himself as the architect of Polish-American relations – said Dudek. He pointed out that “thanks to what happened in the east, we managed to get out of isolation in which Duda and the entire government PiS found itself after the start of Biden’s term.” – At the moment, it has been marked with a question mark, so President Duda will try to appease it – he assessed.
According to prof. Dudek, “the president pushed Polish policy in a very dangerous direction.” “The polarization will be even greater, the scale of the conflict will be even greater,” he warned. He emphasized that “for 30 years the rules of the game have been that we never know what the outcome of the next election may be.” – At the moment, this committee is creating a tool to eliminate the opposition. He may state before the elections that Mr. Tusk cannot be prime minister. This is something unacceptable, because it is a change of the elementary rules of the game – he argued.
Prof. Nałęcz: When I look at President Duda’s behavior, my heart breaks
Explaining his decision to sign the controversial bill Andrzej Duda appealed to the parliamentary investigative commission, the so-called the Rywin commission, from 2003-2004. – We in Poland have, in my personal opinion, good experience when it comes to committees that worked in public. Courts hear cases sometimes openly, sometimes in closed sessions, sometimes in different ways. However, in political matters, the most important thing is to display and show certain mechanisms to the public. We all remember, especially the older ones, who have been consciously moving in the space of public life for a long time, the work of the so-called Rywin commission, the president said on Monday.
These words were addressed by Prof. Nałęcz, who was the chairman of the Rywin commission. – When I look at the behavior of President Duda, my heart breaks. It seems to me that he’s lying to his face, that he can’t be so ignorant. So that the doctor of law would not see the difference between the constitutionally embedded investigative commission and this Russian commission, so that he would not know what a violation of the constitution it is to deprive a citizen of a valid electoral right by an administrative decision, an important civil right, which is holding positions in the Republic of Poland, so as not to did he see that in a dozen or so articles this commission violates the constitution? – said the guest “Dots above i”.
In his speech, Duda also referred to the commission operating in France. – These gross lies about the similarity to the French commission, which, first of all, is embedded in the constitution and is ex officio intended to track the irregularities of power by the opposition, and not the opposition by the power. Lies are supported by lies, Nałęcz added.
