Liam Payne, former One Direction musician, has died. Statement from former band members

Former One Direction members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson have released a joint statement following the death of Liam Payne. They wrote that they were “devastated” by the news. “We will forever cherish the memories we shared with him. For now, our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans who loved him as much as we did. We will miss him greatly,” they added.

Liam Payne, former member of the band One Direction, died in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. He was 31 years old. On Wednesday, a Briton was found dead in front of the CasaSur Palermo hotel. As confirmed by the local police, the musician fell from the balcony on the third floor.

The ambulance team called to the scene confirmed the man's death and established his identity based on his passport. “He had very serious injuries after falling from the third floor onto the interior patio,” said emergency director Alberto Crescenti.

Statement from former One Direction members after Liam Payne's death

On Thursday evening, his former teammates from the pop band One Direction, in which he started his career – Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson – issued a statement.

“We are absolutely devastated by the news of Liam's death. We will be able to say more in time. But for now, we will take some time to mourn and experience the loss of our companion whom we loved very much. We will forever cherish the memories we shared with him. For now, our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans who loved him as much as we do. We love you, Liam,” they wrote.

The group began its activity after taking third place in the British version of X Factor. It broke up in 2016, and the members of the boy band began to pursue solo projects.
