On the lake in Licimiewy (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship) ice broke under two anglers. They are both dead. One of them was a volunteer fireman. The services call not to enter the frozen water reservoirs, because the ice is too fragile.
The accident occurred on Sunday around 15.30 on the lake in Licewach in the Toruń poviat. The services received a report about two people under which ice broke down and fell into the water.
“Today, 16.02 at 15:35 from the Provincial Center for the Coordination of Water Rescue in Kruszwica, we received a dramatically sounding call from two people under which ice broke down. The event took place on Locięwskie Lake in Liciszewy, the commune of Czernikowo,” Rescue in Lipno.

All services operated on site. Rescuers managed to get one of the victims out of the ice. The second of the men was located in the Przetiek about fifteen meters away.

They both got helicopters of the Air Ambulance to hospitals in Bydgoszcz in a state of deep hypothermia. They both died.
– There was a dangerous event on Lake Locięwskie. Under two men who were at a distance of about 50 meters from the shore, ice collapsed. Rescuers were directed to the place, who fished the 49-year-old and 54-year-old from under ice. They were transported to hospitals. Unfortunately, they both died. We conduct proceedings that will explain the circumstances of this tragic event – said the younger aspirant Sebastian Pypczyński from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Toruń.

One of the dead was a fireman
According to Remiza.pl, the deceased was Strażak-Ochotnik and the head of the Carmelite Volunteer Fire Brigade in Wola. He was 49 years old. The deceased said goodbye to the mayor of Kikoł Renata Gołębiewska on social media.
“(…) Druh Jarosław was a man with a great heart and commitment. His work for the local community was invaluable. We will be very missing,” we read in turn on the profile in social media of the Carmelian Volunteer Fire Brigade in Wola.

In addition to the incident in Liciszewy, a dangerous event also occurred in Wąbrzeźno, where a fourteen -year -old fell into the ice. Fortunately, he was out of time out of the water by bystanders.
