Magda Linette (38th WTA) had quite a successful season. The Pole reached the final of the WTA 250 tournament in Rouen (there she lost 1:6, 6:2, 2:6 to Sloane Stephens; 79th WTA), and also won the WTA 250 tournament in Prague, where she defeated 6:2 in the final, 6:1 Magdalena Fręch (25th WTA). Additionally, Linette played in the Olympic tournament in Paris, when she was eliminated in the second round after a 4:6, 1:6 defeat against the Italian Jasmine Paolini (4th WTA). Linette was also part of the Polish national team in the final tournament of the Billie Jean King Cup, in which Poland reached the semi-finals, losing 1-2 to Italy.

Watch the video Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek has chosen a new coach. “I'm very excited”

– When will I finish my career? Every year I answer: in three years. I still believe that I will play in the final of a Grand Slam tournament. Otherwise I wouldn't go on the court. I'm waiting for the Australian Open in January, I feel that we are back on the right track, I recently defeated some strong rivals, I liked the way I played very much – said Linette in an interview with xyz.pl.

It is worth adding that since 2021, Linette has been part of the Athletes' Council and has a real impact on what women's tennis looks like. – I have a lot of additional things to do and meetings. It takes me much more time and energy than I expected. It was supposed to be preparation for “life after life.” So that I can communicate better, express myself better. So that I can break through and express my opinion in front of people who have a lot of authority – said Linette at one of the press conferences.

Linette talks about WTA activities. “You're a little late”

Linette was interviewed by Marek Furjan and Dawid Celt from the podcast “Break Point”. The tennis player talked about the unusual situation that occurred after last year's Australian Open semi-final. Then Linette lost 6:7 (1), 2:6 to Aryna Sabalenka (1st WTA). – WTA activists came to me and asked if they could do a little “Get to know you” thing with me. I said: guys, I'm 31 years old. Well, “get to know me?” (get to know me) – she said (quote from: sportfakty.wp.pl).

– More like “say goodbye” or something similar. Well, sorry, but you're a bit late. You're at a loss because I've been with you for 10 years, so I guess it's better not to do it anymore – added Linette. The Polish woman's words clearly indicate how the WTA has been operating in recent years.

Recently, there was a storm around the WTA after there was no broadcast of the WTA Finals group draw in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Additionally, a survey appeared on the WTA website, which was perceived by Internet users as a politically charged action aimed at whitewashing the Saudis. “Instead of showing the draw, training or providing any information, the WTA only gives fans a survey for propaganda purposes” – fans wrote on social media.
