On Thursday, the Polish women defeated the Swiss 3: 0 to open the fight for the finals of this year's Billie Jean King Cup. A match with Ukraine is scheduled for Friday afternoon, but very unexpectedly Magda Linette. Before the meeting, we learned that she would be replaced by Maja Chwalińska. What are the reasons for such a change?
Magda Linette explained a sudden change in the Polish national team. “With regret”
“Magda Linette got sick. She has a fever” – said Polsat Sport commentator Dawid Olejniczak before the start of the Polish Women's match with Ukrainians. The tennis player herself, however, wanted to make the matter clearly and explained herself to the fans on social media.
“Dear, I have to inform you with great regret that for health reasons I am not able to go out to the court today. My condition, unfortunately, does not even allow me to be present during the match and support the team from the bench” – the tennis player began. As it turns out, the disease is quite serious and forces her to absence in subsequent tournaments.
“I also had to decide to withdraw from the tournament in Rouen. This is a very difficult moment for me, but I have to take care of my health and return to full strength. Thank you for every word of support, news and good thoughts, now they are particularly important to me. See you soon! Your Magda” – Linette wrote.
Even before the start of Billie, Jean King Cup in Radom, it was known that Iga Świątek and Magdalena Fręch would not appear in the colors of the Polish national team. Linette was therefore the only squadrish from the top hundred world ranking.
