They have nearly 150 square meters of space and are located in an elegant tenement house in the very center of the city. Łódź has prepared two premises for rent for foster families working in other towns, who would agree to create a foster family, a family emergency room or a family orphanage in the city.
There are about a hundred professional foster families in Łódź. However, the needs are – as Karolina Tatarzyńska points out from the social campaign “Family is for Children” – much greater. Therefore, the local government is trying to persuade others to move by offering spacious apartments in a renovated tenement house in the city center. Just five minutes on foot from Piotrkowska Street. There are parking spaces for tenants in the closed yard. A playground for children living here is also to be built there.
– Perhaps there is a family in the county that has no children to look after. In exchange for moving to Łódź and taking care of children from municipal orphanages, we offer rental of a city apartment that will meet the housing needs of the family – emphasizes Tatarzyńska in front of the TVN24 camera.
The assumptions are that two families who will take care of three children from orphanages will live in two prepared premises – almost 150 square meters in size.
– There is also enough space for two biological children – says Karolina Tatarzyńska.

How to become a foster family?
The TVN24 interviewee emphasizes that in the case of foster families, zoning is obligatory: in the city, the courses necessary to take care of children from orphanages can only be attended by residents.
– Therefore, our offer is directed primarily to families who already perform such difficult, demanding and responsible work in other places – says Karolina Tatarzyńska.
He adds that about a hundred foster families work in the city. What does it take to become one of them?
– The whole process takes about four months, it starts with completing the documents. During the week, a control visit takes place at the home of volunteers. Then there are psychological tests and a 64-hour course for a non-professional foster family. After obtaining the qualifications, you should spend a few hours on additional training, after which we become a professional foster family – explains the TVN24 interviewer.
