“She was the guardian of our behavior in the Sejm”

During the Holy Mass, the deceased MP Iwona Śledzińska-Katarasińska was remembered by the Marshal of the Senate. – Iwona is gone, it’s very hard to say because she seemed indestructible and that she would be with us always. For me and many of my colleagues, MPs and senators, Iwona was a mentor, a teacher, and a guardian of our behavior in the Sejm. It was Iwona who took every beginner MP for a conversation and explained what was most important in politics. She hated rudeness, dishonesty, cronyism – she reacted very strongly and harshly to it – she believed that we had to tell the truth, even if this truth sometimes hurt a lot and we experienced this from her many times when she judged our behavior, our statements, but she did it to so that we can be better – said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Marshal of the Senate, during the funeral mass.

– She devoted her whole life to culture and there was no better companion to go to the theater or concerts. She understood that culture is very important, that it makes us better, smarter, and makes it easier for us to communicate with each other. And she understood very well what needed to be changed and for the last few years she had been preparing with us for this good day, for this smiling Poland, so that we would know what to do and how to do it. She traveled with us around Poland and checked whether we were doing our homework well and prepared for the day she dreamed about. Iwona never wanted to cause problems for anyone, so she even chose the day of her departure after Christmas, after New Year’s Eve, because she was thinking about others – added the Marshal of the Senate.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Speaker of the Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-BłońskaPAP
