A peregrine falcon nest was built on the chimney of the EC 3 CHP plant in Łódź. Birds can be observed thanks to three cameras installed. According to the representative of Veolia Energia Łódź, last year the falcons did not have young, and this year the female laid as many as four eggs.

The nest on the chimney of EC 3 in Łódź appeared last year. But it was established too late, because the visiting peregrine falcons failed to raise their offspring. This year it may change, because the female has been incubating the laid eggs for several days.

– Last year, the Association for Wild Animals “Sokół” asked us if we could install a nest for a peregrine falcon on the chimney of the EC 3 CHP plant in order to protect the species and the brood of the next generations – says Sławomir Wieteska from Veolia Energia Łódź. – We agreed to it, a nest and three cameras that watch birds have been installed there – adds a representative of the company.

There were no little falcons that year. The female incubates four eggs

Sławomir Wieteska says that last year the falcons had no offspring. This year, as you can see during the live broadcast straight from the nest, the female peregrine falcon is incubating as many as four eggs. – When you watch the transmission, you can sometimes see these eggs, they are so brown, speckled. The female laid them in mid-March, and in mid-April we should expect little falcons, informs Sławomir Wieteska from Veolia Energia Łódź A similar nest, where you can admire peregrine falcons, has been installed in the Karolin Heat and Power Plant in Poznań.
