Drivers driving through Łódź towards the A1 and A2 motorways must expect major traffic disruptions. The renovation of national road no. 14 – Strykowska Street – has begun. This route is used by over 16 thousand cars daily. Strykowska Street can currently be driven in one direction – from the motorway to the city center. Detours have been designated in the other direction – informs the spokesman for the Roads and Transport Authority in Łódź.
Strykowska Street (part of national road 14) is one of the busiest streets in Łódź. According to the last general traffic measurement (data from 2020), the number of cars on the border of the city of Łódź and the Stryków commune exceeded over 16 thousand. The road was damaged in many places – ruts and holes formed on it. Now its manager informed that renovation has started.

– The road will be covered with new asphalt. Thanks to the savings made, we will not only renovate the planned section from Inflancka to Okólna, but the new surface will also appear on the further section towards the city limits. The works are being carried out under traffic. Strykowska Street can currently be driven in one direction from the motorway to the city centre. In the other direction, a detour has been designated through Wycieczkowa and Okólna streets. The cost of the works is PLN 9 million. The works should be completed this year – said Tomasz Andrzejewski, spokesman for the Roads and Transport Authority in Łódź. During rush hours, huge traffic jams are created due to the renovation of Strykowska Street, including on Inflancka Street, and previously on Grzegorz Palki Avenue.

Renovations of other important streets in Łódź
ZDiT in Łódź reported that the renovation of the very damaged Brzezińska Street (national road no. 72), which leads to the A1 motorway, has also begun. – Work is underway on Brzezińska Street from the market square in Nowosolna to the motorway. Szczecińska Street is also being rebuilt, which will take us to the connector under construction at the Aleksandrów Łódzki junction on the S14 road, which will provide the north-western part of the city with easy access to expressways. We also carried out work on Retkinia along Maratońska Street, where three sections of the street have already been completed, and we have more investments ahead of us so that the new asphalt will appear along the entire length from the city centre to the S14 road – summed up Tomasz Andrzejewski.
