A thirteen-year-old boy was vigilant when he noticed a drunk tow truck driver near Piotrków Trybunalski. The man hit the barriers on the viaduct over the A1 motorway several times. The boy did not hesitate to inform the police. It turned out that the driver had almost three per mille of alcohol in his body. He was detained. He faces up to three years in prison.
According to staff aspirant Izabela Gajewska from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Piotrków Trybunalski, the incident took place on Wednesday (December 11) before 7 p.m.
– The Piotrków unit received a report that on a highway overpass, the tow truck driver was trying to get to the other side, but despite the maneuvers, he hit the barriers, destroying them. As it turned out, the incident was reported by a 13-year-old boy who saw the entire incident, the policewoman said.
More than three per mille in the body
The officers went to the scene where they found the driver sitting in the car. It turned out that the man was completely drunk.
– After opening the door, the officers detected a strong odor of alcohol. After checking his sobriety, it turned out that the 40-year-old Renault driver was completely drunk. The man had nearly 3 permille in his body, the policewoman added.
The man was arrested and taken to a police cell. He will soon be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He faces up to 3 years in prison.
