The incident took place on November 15 at the intersection of Włókniarzy Avenue and Legionów Street in Łódź. The LDZ Motoryzowani Łodzianie website published a video showing two offenses. When the red light turns on at the traffic light for straight ahead cars and the vehicles stop, the cyclist starts moving and crosses the intersection – but he does it with a red light.
A moment later, the lights for those turning left come on at the traffic light, from which the author of the recording starts. The video shows that when turning, he almost collides with a passing tram in the middle of the intersection.
Police: two offenses have occurred
We asked the spokeswoman of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Łódź to comment on the published recording. Aspirant Kamila Sowińska informs that both the cyclist and the driver committed an offense. – A driver of a bicycle who fails to obey the red signal S6, as well as a tram driver who fails to obey the tram signal which prohibits entry, may receive a fine of PLN 500, says the policewoman.
He adds: – At this intersection, traffic is directed in a collision-free manner and there should be no situation where vehicles whose paths intersect at the intersection could have a signal allowing entry at the same time.
