Three more people were detained in a case related to the transport and disposal of waste. Members of the group made over three thousand transports with approximately 70,000 tons of hazardous waste, which were then abandoned on rented properties. The estimated cost of legal disposal of this type of waste is over PLN 490 million.

The activities of the Central Police Investigation Bureau and the District Prosecutor's Office in Łódź are carried out jointly with the Łódź National Tax Administration and inspectors of the Provincial Inspectorate of Environmental Protection in Łódź. As a result, further suspects were identified for participating in an organized criminal group whose members dealt in hazardous waste trade.

“The criminal activity involved falsifying documentation included in the waste register and transporting hazardous waste. Investigators also found that, through fake people, the suspects rented real estate and warehouses in several voivodeships, where they then dumped hazardous waste,” the release said. Over 3,000 transports

Investigative findings show that group members carried out over 3,000 waste transports with a total weight of approximately 70,000 tons. “The estimated cost of legal disposal of this type of waste is over PLN 490 million, and tax losses related to, among others, VAT refund fraud were estimated at approximately PLN 1.6 million,” the Central Police Investigation Bureau reported.

The services searched places related to the companies' operations in the Łódź, Opole, Silesian and Lublin voivodeships. Among other things, financial and accounting documentation, data contained in accounting systems, as well as various data carriers were secured.

“A total of 48 suspects are involved in the case, and the District Prosecutor's Office in Łódź was charged with, among others, participation in an organized criminal group, as well as money laundering, using unreliable invoices, committing fiscal crimes and causing a threat to people and the environment through inappropriate conduct. with waste. At the request of the prosecutor, a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest was applied to 14 people,” the Central Police Investigation Bureau reported.
