The police detained a 19-year-old who stole charity piggy banks in two stores in Łomża, including one displayed on the counter as part of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. The man admitted his guilt and pointed out the places where he abandoned the cans. However, he did not say why he did it or how much money was inside.
Police officers from Łomża arrested the perpetrator of the theft of charity cans.
“Last week, a 19-year-old stole a can belonging to a charity foundation in one of the stores in Łomża. The man entered the store, then grabbed the can standing at the cash register and ran away,” we read in a statement on the website of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Łomża.

The 19-year-old took the money inside and threw away the damaged can.
“Three days later, he stole again. This time he entered a local store and stole a can of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity standing on the counter next to the cash register. He also took money from it and threw the damaged one away,” the message reads.
He didn't say why he did it
The police arrested him two hours after the last theft. The 19-year-old showed the police where he left the cans. However, he did not say why he did it or how much money was inside.
After spending a night in police custody, he was charged. He confessed to both crimes, and now the court will decide his fate. He faces up to five years in prison.
