London Metropolitan Police said on Monday that a 35-year-old Polish woman, whose body was found in west London on Friday along with those of her husband and two children, died of multiple stab wounds. Accordingly, a murder investigation is ongoing, police added.

Police said the father, 39-year-old Michał, died of neck injuries, adding that at this stage they could not provide any other information about the circumstances of his death.

Monika, 35, died as a result of multiple wounds inflicted by a sharp instrument, the Metropolitan Police said. Autopsies of two children – 11-year-old Maja and 3-year-old Dawid – will take place on Wednesday.

Police stressed that they were not looking for anyone in connection with the family’s death.

For now, it is not clear how long the family of four has been dead. In a statement, the police said that on Friday afternoon they received a call from Maja’s school, because the girl had been absent since Monday and neither she nor her family had responded to messages.

Later that afternoon, officers arrived at a house on Staines Road in Hounslow, west London, where they found four bodies.
