London: Three stabbed during Notting Hill Carnival

Three people were stabbed on the first day of the Notting Hill Carnival in west London, with one victim “narrowly escaping death”, the Metropolitan Police said. There were also 18 attacks on officers and 103 arrests on Sunday, according to its statistics.

The police said she “narrowly escaped death”. She remains in hospital, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement on Monday.

Two other people at the event, aged 29 and 24, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. One remains in hospital, while the other has been discharged. Investigations into all three incidents are ongoing, officers said. “Hundreds of thousands of people attended Notting Hill Carnival to enjoy a fantastic event. Sadly, among them was a minority who committed violence and crime,” they added.

103 arrests on first day of Notting Hill Carnival

According to a summary provided by the services, during the first day of the famous event, there were also 18 attacks on officers, several cases of sexual harassment, two thefts and dozens of drug-related crimes. A total of 103 arrests were made.
