In 2024, over 1.7 thousand items were found on Polregio trains, and almost 2.7 thousand in the whole of last year. According to the company, jackets, documents, telephones, and even a carpet, a saxophone and a violin were found in the Lost and Found Offices.

According to Thursday's announcement by Polregio, last year, 2,672 items of various kinds were delivered to Lost and Found Offices operating in 14 provinces, and this year – over 1,700. Among the unusual losses, the carrier mentions a carpet, a saxophone, a violin, a guitar, a suit and an engagement ring.

The carrier explained that items are usually delivered to the offices by train staff and sometimes by other passengers.

Office staff try to identify the owner by phone number and email address, if provided with the item.

Lost item on train. How to find and recover it?

Polregio explained how to obtain information about a lost item. The numbers of all offices are available on the company's website, at all stations and stops where its trains stop. To collect the item, you should contact the office of the appropriate province, and the proof of purchase or other ownership document will allow for quick identification of the loss and simplify its collection.

If we do not have proof of purchase, we may need a detailed description of the item we are looking for (e.g. specific features), the date and approximate time of loss and the route of travel. It was noted that the more detailed the description, the greater the chance of recovering the property, and the condition for collection is the presentation of an identity document.

It was reported that lost items are kept in offices for three days (counted from the day they are found), and after that time “documents are handed over to the Police, and items worth more than PLN 100 are sent to the Lost and Found Office at the nearest district offices”. The rest of the items are subject to destruction by a commission – it was added.
