The flood emergency service was announced on Saturday morning in the Kłodzko poviat (Lower Silesian Voivodship) by the local starost. This decision is related to the increase in water levels and exceeding warning levels in rivers and streams. In other parts of the region, alert levels are exceeded, as well as on one of the rivers in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued third, second and first degree hydrological alerts.

On Saturday morning, the starost of Kłodzko, Maciej Awirzeń, introduced a flood emergency service throughout the county. It is in force from 7 am. As it was written in the communiqué, the decision is related to “an increase in water levels and exceeding warning levels on rivers and streams of the Płock district”.

In the part of the province Lower Silesia hydrological alerts issued by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management are in force. First degree alerts have been issued for the catchment area of ​​the left-hand tributaries of the middle Oder, including the Kłodzko poviat. The warnings, related to “heavy rainfall experienced in the region”, will remain in effect until 1pm on Saturday.

“Further increases in water levels to the high water zone are expected. On smaller rivers and in urbanized catchments, water levels may increase rapidly” – we read in the release. IMGW. It was noted that “in controlled catchments, in the event of particularly intense rainfall, there is a possibility of exceeding the warning levels, and for a short time also the alarm levels (especially in Ostróżna on Witka, Świebodzice on Pełcznica and Szalejów Dolny on Bystrzyca Dusznicka).

Exceeded alert levels in Lower Silesia

On Saturday morning, on the Skora River at the Zagrodno station, the alert level was exceeded by 40 cm, amounting to 190 cm. On Bystrzyca Dusznicka in Szalejów Dolny, the water level was 194 cm (alarm level 180 cm), and on Ślęża at the Białobrzezie station it was 125 cm (alarm level 120 cm).

IMWM announced a second-level alert for the area of ​​Kaczawa from Dunin to the mouth of the Oder and Kaczawa from Dunin (without upper Skora) to the mouth. “Due to the runoff of rainwater, further increases in water levels in the high water zone are forecast, along with exceeding the warning levels” – it was announced. Sharpening will expire at 9 on Sunday.

During the day, from 8 on Friday to 8 on Saturday, the largest sums of rainfall throughout the country were recorded in Lower Silesia. The measuring station in Jelenia Góra recorded 33.3 liters of water per square meter.

In some parts of the country, IMGW hydrological warnings of the third, highest degree are in force. They concern the province Świętokrzyskie, the Czarna catchment. As we read, “on the Czarna river in Januszewice, a further increase in the water level is expected when the alarm level is exceeded, related to the further runoff of rainwater and the forecasted rainfall.” The alert will be valid until 9am on Sunday.

The state of emergency on Czarna Street in Januszewice on Saturday morning was exceeded by four centimeters and amounted to 404 cm.
