There was a fire in a garbage heap at the garbage dump in Lubiechów Górne (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). The firefighting operation lasted all night. Firefighters extinguish emerging flames. About 100 square meters of garbage were burned.
The firefighters were notified of a fire at the garbage dump on Thursday (November 21) at 4:23 p.m. Captain Przemysław Wiaderski, press spokesman for the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Gryfino, said that the firefighting operation lasted all night.
– We are constantly extinguishing emerging fires. It looked unusual because the fire itself appeared halfway up the garbage heap, so firefighters had to dig out to its source, explained the spokesman. – It's hard to say what the source was – he added.
The facility manager is also helping in the action by providing his excavators and bulldozers to help firefighters clear away the garbage.
In total, about 100 square meters of waste burned.
The fire was extinguished by seven fire brigades. While the flames are being extinguished, two teams are staying at the landfill.
