The marijuana smelled so intensely that Lubin police officers smelled it through the window of their police car. After checking the empty building, officers managed to find 22 kilograms of the drug. Four people were detained.
The incident took place in mid-September in Lubin. Officers smelled the characteristic odor of marijuana coming from a vacant building in the city through the open window of their patrol car. They decided to check it out.
Drugs hidden in a vacant building
According to the Lubin police, there were two men inside who were completely surprised to see the police officers. “On the armchairs, sofas, floor and tablecloths hung with ropes and attached to the furniture there was dried plant material,” we read in the statement.
The police examined the plants, after which “it turned out to be marijuana with a total weight of over 22 kilograms”. “In addition, they found crystals wrapped in aluminum foil on the table, which after being examined by investigators turned out to be methamphetamine”, the police added.
In the remaining rooms there were two women aged 30 and 34. One of them tried to hide behind a hanging sheet, but it did not help her. They were all detained and taken to the police station in Lubin.
Four people arrested, two charged
The arrested men have already been charged with manufacturing, in violation of the provisions of the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction, a significant amount of narcotics. They face a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
The police added that investigators are determining the involvement of the two detained women in the proceedings and do not rule out further arrests in this case.
In addition, the younger of the men, a 39-year-old from Lubin, will be held accountable for repeatedly driving a car with license plates that were not assigned to the vehicle. He was also banned from driving all motor vehicles for life.
