Police and firefighters searched for a 58-year-old resident of Lower Silesia for 1.5 hours. Earlier, the man called his wife and told her that he “ate a toadstool and feels bad.” It turned out that he was drunk and – according to the police – “wanted to play a joke on his wife”. The police reminds that “people who call for help without justification will be subject to the strictest consequences provided for by law.”
– A 58-year-old resident of the Legnica district showed extreme irresponsibility – emphasizes Asp. pcs. Sylwia Serafin from the police in Lubin. And he describes that the man was picking mushrooms when he decided to lie to his wife that he “ate a toadstool and feels bad.” – He said goodbye to her and then stopped answering her calls. The frightened woman informed the police about the matter, thus putting all services on their feet, reports Serafin.
Police officers, firefighters from the State Fire Service and volunteer firefighters began searching for the 58-year-old. After 1.5 hours the man was found. It turned out that he was in no danger. – He explained that he wanted to play a joke on his wife and just scare her. He had 1.3 per mille of alcohol in his body and did not think that anyone might need help at that time – says the policewoman.

“We appeal for common sense and prudence when informing the services about situations that may pose a threat to human life or health. The police treat each such report extremely seriously and engage all forces and resources at their disposal,” the uniformed officers emphasize. And they emphasize: “People who call for help without justification will be subject to the strictest consequences provided for by law.”

§ 1. Whoever: 1) intends to cause an unnecessary action by providing false information or otherwise misleads a public utility institution or an authority protecting security, public order or health, 2) intentionally, without justified cause, blocks an emergency telephone number, impeding the proper functioning emergency notification center – is punishable by arrest, restriction of liberty or a fine of up to PLN 1,500. § 2. If the offense resulted in an unnecessary action, damages up to PLN 1,000 may be awarded.
