Lublin. Bounty hunters have tracked down dangerous criminals

Lublin “headhunters” tracked down, arrested and extradited three dangerous criminals who were hiding in Germany. Each of them has committed serious crimes committed in Poland. All of them have already been sent to prison, where they will serve their sentences.

The extradition of criminals detained abroad took place at the Polish-German road border crossing Zgorzelec – Görlitz.

According to the Lublin police, the detained are three residents of the Lublin region, wanted on arrest warrants and EAW, who, thanks to extensive operations, were located by “headhunters” from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Lublin. Thanks to the exchange of information and cooperation with the Police Headquarters (Office of International Police Cooperation and the Department of Search and Identification of Persons), the ENFAST network and the police in Germany they were arrested.

42-year-old with an “extensive criminal dossier”

One of the detained is a 42-year-old resident of Włodawa. – He is a dangerous criminal who has a very extensive criminal dossier, dating back even 20 years – says Chief Inspector Anna Kamola from the Lublin police.

The man committed, among other things, attack on a currency exchange office employee in Biała Podlaska. According to the police, together with other people he knocked the man to the ground, beat and choked him, and then took cash in Polish and foreign currencies. The losses were estimated at several dozen thousand zlotys.

He was also the perpetrator of an attack on employees of a meat wholesaler, which took place in 2005 in Lublin. The robbers stole over PLN 100,000 in cash. He also committed burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a bar and theft of money from slot machines, as well as possession of firearms and ammunition without a permit, possession of a significant amount of drugs and their smuggling.

In recent years, in the Włodawa district, he led and participated in an organized criminal group committing excise crimes related to the illegal production and sale of cigarettes. As a result of his criminal activities, he exposed the State Treasury to losses amounting to nearly PLN 800,000.

An arrest warrant and a European Arrest Warrant were issued for the 42-year-old. He is sentenced to eight years and six months in prison. Police officers from the Search and Identification of Persons Department of the Police Headquarters in Lublin, who took over this case in 2024, located the criminal in Germany at the end of the year. Thanks to the ENFAST network, the 42-year-old was arrested.

Accident, “sexual intercourse” with a minor and drugs

A 28-year-old resident of Biała Podlaska was also detained. The man was wanted on an arrest warrant issued by the court in 2022, and he has two years and four months to serve in prison. – In 2021, while driving a vehicle in Biała Podlaska under the influence of alcohol (1.2 per mille), he hit a pedestrian who was walking correctly, did not provide help and fled the scene. Thus, he exposed the injured person to the risk of losing his life and seriously damaging his health, said Assistant Commissioner Anna Kamola.

The man is also charged with sexual intercourse with a minor under 15 years of age or committing other sexual activity against her, as well as drug offenses.

After the verdict sentencing him to prison, he fled abroad. Now he has been detained.

“A number of crimes against property”

The third person detained is a 37-year-old resident of Łęczna. The man has a number of crimes against property on his record. He committed a robbery in one of the supermarkets. He also robbed a local pharmacy in Łęczna and other food markets. He broke into the basement of one of the blocks of flats in Łęczyca. He also insulted and violated the bodily integrity of the policemen who detained him. He committed all these acts as a recidivist, as he had previously been convicted of similar crimes and had served prison terms.

The court sentenced him to a total penalty of over four years of imprisonment. Our searchers from Lublin, together with criminals from the Police Headquarters in Łeczna, also tracked down the wanted 37-year-old man in Germany. Thanks to cooperation with ENFAST, he was arrested and then extradited to Poland.

They are already serving their sentences

The detained persons wanted last Wednesday were escorted by police officers from the Police Headquarters in Wrocław to the Prison, where they will serve their sentences.

– The above arrests show how important international cooperation is in the search for hiding criminals. Thanks to the exchange of information and cooperation between services, the wanted people are finally brought to justice, even after many years, emphasized Assistant Commissioner Kamola.

She also reminded that all information about wanted perpetrators of crimes and those hiding from the Polish justice system can be provided directly to police officers from the Department of Search and Identification of Persons of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Lublin by calling 798 003 676.
