Criminal investigators from Lublin led to the arrest of a 50-year-old wanted by the European Arrest Warrant. The man was hiding in Spain, using the identity of another person – a resident of Zgorzelec in Lower Silesia. He was so convincing that he managed to fool the uniformed and stayed in Spanish custody as a different man.
The 50-year-old was wanted for a robbery with the use of a dangerous object and theft with burglary.
The man left the country and was hiding in the European Union countries. The case of the search was dealt with by policemen from the voivodeship headquarters in Lublin, who determined that the person wanted was using the data of another Polish citizen.
He stayed in Spanish custody as a resident of Zgorzelec
– He was so convincing that in Spain he was in custody for another crime committed there as a resident of Zgorzelec – says Commissioner Andrzej Fijołek, spokesman of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Lublin.
Spanish uniforms handed the man over to the Polish police.
The fugitive was in custody as a resident of Zgorzelec in the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship
