The District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin accused Monika B. of bullying with particular cruelty over her minor daughter. According to investigative findings, the woman applied to the child's face toxic substance, as a result of which there was necrosis. The girl lost, among others, a piece of ear.
As reported by prosecutor Jolanta Dębiec from the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, an indictment against 45-year-old Monika B. was sent to the District Court in Siedlce.
According to the prosecutor's office, Monika B. From the end of February 2017 to January 15, 2024. She was physically and mentally abused with particular cruelty over her minor daughter.
Fundraisings for the treatment of a child
The woman was in the face and child's neck to apply a toxic, unknown liquid substance, causing the girl to disfigure. This caused, among others, erythema, inflammation, scars, as well as irreversible tissue defects as a result of necrosis. The girl lost, among others part of the right ear.
These damage and the wounds of the girl, the woman repeatedly presented the health service and the care court as a lesion, which – according to the prosecutor's office – is additionally a special cruelty. ” Money collections were conducted for the treatment of the girl.
The doctors got suspicious
The prosecutor's office initiated the investigation in this case after notification from the doctors of the Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Lublin, who took doubt as to the illness of Monika B. According to them, “the clinical picture and the course of the minor's illness did not answer any scientifically known and empirically known disease entity”, and the shape and evolution of changes on the skin of the child's face indicated that “they had no natural nature”
Experted from various branches of medicine determined that these changes were traumatic, they were caused by human behavior. They indicated, among others that massive changes occurred practically only in one area of the child's body. They also excluded skin disease.
In addition, the girl's research has shown that she has no features of intellectual disability, autism or epilepsy manifestations, which Monika B. suggested for years for years
The girl's condition improved after separation from the mother
When the woman was arrested and the court suspended her parental authority, and the child was taken care of by the family – the girl's health improved significantly and the doctors did not find new skin changes.
– The child develops properly cognitively, returned to study in a stationary system – noted Dębiec.
Monika B. did not admit to committing the alleged acts. She explained, among others that she dealt with hygiene activities regarding the child's body.
Expert psychiatrists who examined the woman decided that she had a fully preserved ability to recognize the importance of their actions and manage her behavior.
– Monika B., however, in the opinion of expert psychiatrists, shows personality disorders in the form of (…) Münchhausen syndrome from the transfer, which consist in the targeted introduction by the guardian of the symptoms of the disease in a child or other person under her care, to arouse compassion and attention from the environment, as well as benefits from this, including Financial – said Dębiec.
Monika B. remains in custody. He faces up to 20 years in prison for abusing his daughter.
